Our First Birthday Boy!

When picking a birthday cake we try to make something that the person it is for loves.  With Spud's birthday approaching, Fisher suggested that the one thing that Spud loves and adores is his mom (me).  So Fisher and the girls decided to make a cake that "looks" like me.

Do you see the likeness?
Spud got a great birthday present for his first birthday!  His baby boy cousin was born just 9 days before his special day.  We were all so excited to welcome baby S!

We celebrated Spud's birthday with the Lovells and our good friends/neighbors the Sos.  It was an enjoyable evening.

I can't believe how quickly our little man has grown.  I blinked and he is one!  Spud took his first steps a few weeks before his birthday and has slowly been increasing his walking ability.  He loves his sisters and is happy to play along side them.  He is the neighborhood doll and puts up with a lot of little girls hauling him around and playing house.  He is not a quiet boy... with so many noisy sisters around, he has to speak up to get his point across.  He can say a few words like "uh oh, mom, dad, and his sisters names.  We love his babbles, sound effects, and giggles.

Pretty tasty!

That was delicious!

Month of Celebrations

I love the month of May!  It's such a beautiful and happy month full of celebrations.  Some of the celebrations are sad because it means we have to say goodbye to new and old friends.  My girls had amazing teachers this year and we all were sad to say goodbye for the summer.  With school ending, recitals, parties and goodbyes, our May was full to the brim this year!

Even Sweeter April

The highlight of April was a visit from K-Rae, Paisley, and Elyse and her babies.  The weather continued to be beautiful and we enjoyed walks, visits to the park, a trip The Science Center, a few girls nights and lots of yummy food.  My cousin Elyse wrote a great post about the visit and if you have the magic word you can see it here.  We are so grateful that they made the long drive to come visit!  We loved every second.

March A and Z

We enjoyed a lovely spring break in the middle of march, but before we post about that - let's cover the beginning and the end.  Fisher and T-man co-coached Curly and Lettie's city rec basketball team.  This was a first for all of them and I think they all really enjoyed it.  Curly improved a lot and now loves to go out and shoot baskets whenever she has a spare moment.  The good experience they had was inspiration to get Fisher a basketball standard for his birthday and it has proved to be a fun gift for the whole family.  Fisher and I celebrated his birthday with a dinner date and then a family dinner on Sunday.

Hours of fun in a box!
Happy Birthday Fisher!

The little man is growing so fast!
Always ready to chow!
Spud is becoming more mobile every day.  He crawls very quickly and is even quicker to get into things!  But, he still prefers for mom to carry him around and loves to be held (especially when it is time to make dinner).

We ended the month celebrating Easter.  I enjoyed singing in an Easter Fireside the Sunday prior to Easter.  We had an Easter egg hunt on Saturday night with the kids in our babysitting rotation.  We decided to have the hunt in the dark with flashlights and it was a hit!
