Don't get too comfortable...

Yes, I have been reading Jane Eyre for several months now (I think I have read three other books in the meantime) and have really enjoyed it. I wanted to share another quote. The background behind this quote - Jane who has never had family or fortune has just acquired both and is talking about her future with her cousin, St. John, who is a ambitious missionary. She has resigned from her teaching school in a poor, farming community. Here is the quote -
"Jane... (I) hope you will begin to look beyond Moor house and Morton, and sisterly society and the selfish calm and sensual comfort of civilized affluence. I hope your energies will then once more trouble you with their strength."
I looked at him with surprise. "St. John," I said, "I think you are almost as wicked to talk so. I am disposed to be as content as a queen, and you try to stir me up to restlessness! To what end?"

Lovin' Livin' in the Burg

We have been staying at my parents in Rexburg for a week now and we are loving it! Here are a few reasons why :

- The weather has been beautiful (well at least a few days) and flowers are blooming everywhere - we get a double dose of spring this year!

- Curly and Lou get to see Grandma (and Grandpa) everyday!

- After lots of years and girls in dance lessons, Grandma has TONS of amazing dress-ups. Heaven for Curly!

- I get to see my mom, dad and sister everyday!

- Everything in town is close and we have been riding our bike or walking a lot - the park, the store, Sno Shack!, the library.

- A big house with lots of space to play and lots of toys!

- The temple is less than five minutes away and we have in house babysitting!

- I got to help my youngest sibling/sister get ready for senior prom. Makes me feel old! Doesn't she look beautiful!

- We get to celebrate Mother's day with Grandma/ mom.

- There is no place like home!

Eemember!

One of Curly's favorite phrases these days is "I ate all my dinner, now I can have a treat, EEMEMBER?!?" (or some other accomplishment she has recently performed, followed by 'eemember?') I don't know about you, but spring is always a nostalgic time for me. Happy things always seem to happen in the spring - school ends, graduations, flowers blossom, you look forward to summer activities... I am always eemembering good things in the spring. So pardon me while I flash back a few years -

6 years ago this spring - I was engaged (that seems to often happen in the spring too). Fisher and I were both graduating from BYU-Idaho. I was heading to Cuenca, Ecuador to work in orphanages - that was a very nice spring!

3 years ago this spring - We were both graduating from the U. I with my masters in Speech Pathology and Fisher with a BS in Exercise Physiology. We were also expecting Curly and moving to Idaho to work and be near my family. That was a great time of life!

1 year ago this spring - We were back in Utah and I was expecting Lou in July. That was a wonderful spring!

This spring - I am having lots of fun playing with my two cuties and getting ready to have a crazy summer of traveling and adventures. It is a crazy time of life!

Next Spring - Fisher will graduate!!! and we will hopefully be preparing to move to wherever he finds a job, a real job!!! It will be a happy and sad time. Happy to be done with the student scrimp n' save time of life, and sad to leave our little apartment, my grandparents, our families, our friends and ward here... and funnily the scrimp n' save time of life.


Spring is a wonderful time, eemember?

Let's Pack it all in...

Isn't it funny how you wait until you have a deadline to do the things you have been wanting and needing to do for several months (or maybe several years). Our eminent vacating in two weeks has made us really busy - arranging housing and travel plans, cleaning house, finishing projects that have needed finishing, having playdates and get togethers with friends that we have been wanting to see... Lots of work and play has been going on around here.

Yesterday we visited Fisher's siblings and their spouses in Logan (something we have been meaning to do all year). It was a lot of fun. We played frisbee golf, took a tour of the USU campus (including the library with it's really cool B.A.R.N.), had a picnic and fed the ducks, got Aggie ice cream, made pizza, rode a motor scooter...

Can you tell that I feel really cool and tough?

Curly's our little dare-devil. She especially loved the motor scooter! Thanks Uncle Ry!







And another funny thing... I don't like sleeping on the floor. I would jump at the chance to go to bed early and sleep past 6:30... Curly on the other hand has insisted on sleeping on her floor the past few nights. She always fights bedtime and we're lucky if she sleeps past 6:30 in the morning these days. I am sure I did crazy things like that when I was a kid... it's too bad we don't have kid bodies and energy when we get old.

PS - Thanks to all for the input, tips, and help we have received about temporarily living in Washington DC!

Anyone ever been to Bethesda?

Our phone rang at 6:19 this morning. I assumed it would be a wrong number as Fisher tumbled out of bed to answer. I could here the voice on the other end say, "This is Steve Chicken from the National Institue of Health, is this Fisher Lake?" The call was to inform Fisher that he's been selected to participate in a summer research internship in Washington DC this summer. We are both excited, but now we have lots of work to figure out the logistics of living there for 10 weeks - Do we all go out there? Where would we live? How would we get two adults, two children and all of our stuff there on an airplane? Could we afford any of that? Sooo... Does Fisher just go? Do I go visit him for a couple weeks with or without the girls? Where would he live? There are lots of things to do and decide.. If anyone has friends in that area or knows it well, we would love some advice on where to live and what to expect, etc....
