Bedtime Battles

Many of you have heard about the battle to get Curly to stay in her bed. We have tried everything we can think of and everything that our friends have recommended to get her to stay in her bed at night... but nothing works, so we basically emptied the toys out of her room, child proofed her light switch, tied her drawers shut and hope that one day she will learn that staying in her bed makes everyone happier. Just so you don't think we are terrible parents, every night she gets one chance to stay in bed...but she fails every night and the door gets shut. We have also had to put the diapers and wipes on the high closet shelf because she kept trying to change her diaper... I won't go into detail. The other night we put her to bed and everything was quiet for a little while...then we heard her screaming for help. We ran in there to find her sitting on her dresser crying. Somehow she had climbed up the dresser that is in her closet and managed to stand on it and reach the diapers and wipes to pull them out. Then, she couldn't get back down and called for help. Silly girl! I guess she learned he lesson because she hasn't done it since.

We are so lucky to live in my grandparents basement apartment. Not only do they give us a place to live, but they also entertain us. Grandma is a card shark! Every Sunday we join them, my Uncle Dave and cousin Elyse in several rounds of cards - Threes, Hearts, Nine Innings, Kings Corner, Mormon Bridge, 7-Up, Grump, - and other games - Liar's Dice, Stack, Rummikub, Sequence, Risk, Racko, Chicken Toes. It is the ultimate old-fashioned "gaming" experience.

I love your blog! I found it through Carly's and I'm so glad I did. Your little girl is sooo cute and looks just like you!

Ahhh. I remember that so well with C. E just puts herself to bed when she gets tired enough. That often ends up being 9pm or later, but she's a night owl and just can't sleep before then most nights. C has never done that. Please! Please! Please let A be like E! =)

I feel your pain. Jon decided it would be cool to make Sevy's bed a biggirl bed and now we fight naps (which I need probably more than her) and every night seems to turn into a 2+ hour battle. Oh the joys of parenthood!

I didn't know A was doing that, the little stinker! I bet you are about at your wit's end...hang in there.

Those card games sound so fun - let's have a girls' night and you can teach us!

HAHAH, I was laughing so hard at the bedtime battles, but then realized we're not too far from getting into that mess. I'll have to call you for advice when we do get to that point.

We were thinking of putting Jackson into a "big boy bed" but maybe we will put that off a little longer!! Like when I am already up all night with a new born! Good Luck!

Oh my gosh! That's so funny! Our Audrey is kinda in the same stage. You can always here her bangin around in there after the door is shut and the lights are out. The only thing we have to deal with is her waking up in the middle of the night with bad dreams about a certain Elmo movie we got from the library--Elmo in Grouchland--it's cute, but I guess she's not ready for the conflict of a full-length feature. We'll stick with Elmo's World for now. :) Love and miss you guys. (And we DEFINATELY have to play cards with your grandma when we come visit! How fun.)
